William Schiafone Obituary

William "Bill" J. Schiafone Jr., 53, of Summerville ran into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at his home following an illness.

Born July 8, 1972 in Ridgway, he was the son of William Schiafone Sr. and Faye (Eckborg) Schiafone.

He was a graduate of DuBois Christian School and a member of Zion Church of Jefferson County.

On October 17, 2014 at Brookville Church of God, he married the former Erin Barkley. She survives.

At the time of his passing, he was employed by SCI Forest as a Correction Officer. He was a member of the Critical Incident Stress Management Team.

Bill served as a constable in Elk County and, until his illness, he was a councilman for Summerville Borough.

He was an outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing, but his greatest pastime was leading people to salvation by telling them about JESUS.

In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by his daughter, Ashley Schiafone; his step-children, Sadie and Will Shofestall; his grandchildren, McKenna and Thea; his brother, Alan Schiafone; and his sisters, Linda Goss and Brenda (Richard) Deal.

His mother preceded him in death.

His family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Roseville Independent Chapel, located at 3598 Route 322 in Brookville.

A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m., at the church, with Pastor Jim Fillhart officiating.

Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg, Elk County.

His family suggests memorial contributions be made in Bill's memory to Prison Fellowship or Zion Church of Jefferson County.

There are no appropriate words to express the love I had for Bill as a coworker and friend. His smile was infectious and his laugh was contagious. My deepest condolences to you all for this tremendous loss. Bill's spirit will live on in us all and may God embrace you during this difficult time. RIP Bill
