Francesca "Fran" Schiafone

Francesca (Fran) Schiafone passed on Tuesday, November 23, 2022, at Community Medical Center in Toms River. She was born on June 12, 1926, in Newark, N.J. and lived in Bloomfield, N.J before moving to Toms River in 1995. Fran lived in the family home for seventy years where she lovingly cared for her parents and five younger sisters. After graduating Bloomfield High School, she worked for Bell Telephone as a supervisor until retiring in 1988. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Bruno Schiafone (Schife) and was happily married for forty years until his death in 1995. Fran and Schife loved traveling and sharing stories of their adventures. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time in the dream home she built with her husband in the Green Island section of Toms River. It is here where she enjoyed hosting family and friends and created lifelong memories for all. She was predeceased by her father, Joseph Spano; her mother, Rose (nee Orlando); her beloved husband, Bruno Schiafone and her sisters, Jo Surdi, Angela Spano, Virginia Surdi and Toni Alongi. She is survived by her sister, Lynda Cook; her nephews and nieces, Angel Cozzi, Vivian Russo, Vincent Russo, Jo-Ann Lash, Paul Alongi, Vincent Surdi and Gina Ring, and many great-nephews and nieces. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her devoted caregiver Rochille Neri and dear friend Debbie DiNicola. Fran's loving way and kind gentle spirt will be deeply missed.
Visiting will be Monday 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. Services will begin 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Entombment at Hollywood Memorial Park will follow.
