William H. (Bill) Schramm, age 92, of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Friday, December 12, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at 7531 English Lake Road in the Town of Newton. Pastor Micah Martin will officiate with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery. Following the service, a reception will be held at City Limits Bar & Banquet (formerly Club Bil-Mar), 3627 County Road CR, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newton.
Bill was born in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids on April 19, 1933, son of the late Karl and Laurine (Vogt) Schramm. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newtonburg, WI. He graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1951. On September 4, 1955, he married Bernice Moldenhauer at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Liberty. Bill was a career employee with the Manitowoc County Highway Department and served as County Highway Commissioner from 1980 until his retirement in 1995. During those years, he was very active in transportation-related issues and served several years on the Board of Directors of the Transportation Development Association. He also served two years as President of the Wisconsin County Highway Association. After retirement, he joined OMNNI Associates of Appleton, on a part-time basis, as a Senior Transportation Consultant. He served in that capacity until 2010.
He was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and, in the past, served as Church Council President and Board of Elders. He enjoyed landscaping, golfing, playing cards and was an avid Packer fan. He and his loving wife, Bernice, also enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Survivors include devoted wife, Bernice, one son, Darrell and wife, Karen, of Manitowoc and one daughter, Nola and husband, Paul Burski, of
Lakeville, MN. He is also survived by four grandchildren. Jean (Jesse) Engelbrecht of
Milwaukee, WI, Aaron (Ashley) Schramm of New Berlin, WI, Brooke (Brad) Claxton of
Manitowoc, WI, McKenzie Burski of
Lakeville, MN and five great grandchildren. Other survivors include one sister, Audrey (Richard) Sauve, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Junette Pederson, six brothers-in-law, Harold Krauss, Russell Pederson, Paul Moldenhauer, Howard Moldenhauer, Oscar Moldenhauer, Vernon Vetter and five sisters-in-law Hazel Moldenhauer, Virginia Moldenhauer, Marion Moldenhauer, Ruth Moldenhauer and Lucille (Moldenhauer) Vetter and one nephew, William (Bill) Vetter. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, William and Ella Moldenhauer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be accepted for St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church or Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
