William Schultz Obituary

William (Bill) Leslie Schultz passed away on December 15, 2025, at Mat-Su Regional Hospital in Palmer, Alaska. He was 68 years old and will be deeply missed.
Bill was born on January 12, 1957, in Shawano, Wisconsin, to William and Audrey Schultz. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1975. As a child, he loved playing basketball, competing in bow shooting, and hunting and fishing with friends and family. In 1983, Bill moved to Alaska, where he quickly fell in love with the land and chose to make it his home.
Bill spent his life working as a surveyor and landscaper-careers that allowed him to be outdoors and connected to the land he loved. In 1990, while working in Central Alaska, Bill met the love of his life, Pattie Schultz. They moved to Willow, Alaska, in 1992 and built a life together there. Willow became Bill's true home-a place where he could live close to nature, raise his family, and enjoy a quiet, meaningful life. He took great pride in his work, his home, and the land that surrounded it. Whether tending to projects, helping others, or preparing for the next hunting or fishing season, Bill was always busy and purposeful. Friends and neighbors knew him as dependable, steady, and always willing to lend a hand.
Bill deeply enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors in every season. He was happiest under an open sky-trekking through the woods, casting a line, or sitting quietly by a fire. His favorite place in the world was moose camp, a place filled with tradition, stories, laughter, and connection. Every hunting season, Bill could be found there with family and friends. His ashes will be spread at moose camp this coming summer, followed by a celebration of life.
Bill is survived by his wife, Pattie Schultz; his son, Michael Ebell; his daughter and son-in-law, Amber (Evan) Larrecou; his grandchildren, Kieran and Audrey Hill; his sisters, Karen (Gary) Rankin and Debi (Dan) Walgurski; his brother, Bruce (Dawn) Schultz; his nephew, Jeremy Schultz; and many beloved nephews and nieces.
