Publish in a newspaper

William (Bill) Alvin Scott, 78, was born February 11, 1947, in Roach, Mo to William Andy and Vera Zelma (Sawyer) Scott. He departed this life on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Osage Beach Health Care in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Bill attended Macks Creek High School and graduated with the Class of 1965. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served for 4 years and was a helicopter mechanic, while he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon his discharge from USAF, he then enlisted with the Reserves and served for two years.

Some of his favorite memories were deer hunting and fishing with his son's. He would tell endless stories about taking them camping and on float trips.

He worked for several years in the construction business and later worked for the Camdenton School System. He was very talented in growing and nurturing plants. So, after his retirement, he opened Walkertown Orchards and Nursery for several years. Many of his friends and family benefitted from his green thumb.

Bill referred to his latest hobby as taking a pile of junk and turning it into a dream car. He worked many hours restoring a 1969 Ford Mustang and enjoyed taking it to car shows where he won numerous trophies.

At the time of his death, Bill was a member of the Nemo Missionary Baptist Church, Nemo, MO. He was saved at a young age during a revival at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, in Edith, MO. Shortly thereafter, he joined the church and was baptized.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Zelma Scott, a sister, Coleta Clemmons and brother in laws, Robert Long and Hosea Clemmons.

He is survived by his three sons William (Tony) of Weaubleau, Missouri, Brian and wife, Cindy, of Flemington, Missouri, and Corey and wife, Heather, of Alabama; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister Sue Long of Hermitage, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, who will treasure the memories he created.

Funeral services are planned for Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 am, Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes in Macks Creek, with burial at Big Niangua Cemetery in Roach, Missouri, with full military honors.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes, 14384 West Highway 54, Macks Creek, MO 65786 (573) 363-5360. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.hedgesscottmillard.com.
