Just learning about the passing of William Shelby.
"Here I Am" is one of the most sentimental songs he wrote that brings back my childhood memories as well as a host of other songs he wrote under SOLAR records.
My sincere condolences to his family.
Rest in power with all of the other great musical ancestors.

To Tommy and the girls, I was very close to your brother and your father and was shocked to receive this tragic news

This is so sad. It brought a few tears to my eyes. I met Will in a Pawn shop a couple of years ago in Tempe AZ which is next to Phoenix. He had just bought a huge TV and he was
gonna use it for a monitor so he could write more music and play his keyboards. We took the TV to his crib and hung out a few times. I was so impressed with all the musicians that he produced, co- wrote for and hung out with. He showed me many pictures of him and so many artists. He had a lot of stories and respect for Lakeside and all the other groups that he worked with. He was a great guy and we would text and talk on the phone. My last text to him was that I was playing my Bass guitar and I was trying to figure out the Bass line to "Do me right" by Dynasty. His response was "You´ll figure it out or I´ll come teach it to you. He was a great man and I"ll miss him. Rest In Peace my Brother in Christ.

What a bright and brilliant light extinguished with your passing. I still remember listening to you play the piano while living right next door to you when our mom sent us to bed as little kids here in Dayton, Oh. You taught me how to play 'Charlie Brown' theme song and 'Work To Do' by the Isley Brothers on piano. It's probably the reason I enjoy the piano to this day. I'm sure you are playing for a multitude right now. Love you my brother.
My heart, prayers and condolences go out to your family.
