William Edward "Bill" Shields, 86, of Seneca, husband to Cleo Halverson Shields, passed away October 26, 2023.
Born in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Viola Sorenson Shields. Bill received his bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State University and went on to an executive career in printing and publishing. He enjoyed reading, traveling, and boating. He also had an extensive library and model train collection. Bill was a member of the Oconee County History Club and KOBA (Keep Oconee Beautiful Association). Mr. Shields served his country proudly in the United States Army and was a member of University Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Cleo Halverson Shields; son, Michael Shields and wife LuAnne of Simpsonville, SC; daughter, Julie Sullivan and husband Robert of Glenside, PA; grandchildren, Samantha Sullivan, Edward Shields, and Ava Shields and fiancé Austin Birchell; brother, Jim Shields and wife Phyllis of Rapid City, SD; sister, Mary Ann Ryden and husband William of Peoria, AZ.
Viewing and Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
Funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's honor to University Lutheran Church, 111 Sloan Street, Clemson, SC 29631.
