William Raymond "Bill" Shinn, 72 of Port Orange, Florida went to his heavenly home Friday,
January 24, 2025. He was born in Charleston, WV on April 26, 1952 to Mary Genevieve Odell
Shinn and Basil Ray Shinn. He graduated from DuPont High School and held an associates
degree in business from WV Career College.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother in law Larry Hodge and his
much loved nephew Andy Hodge, along with his beloved dogs Mitzi and Baker.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Pamela Gatens Shinn of Port Orange, FL, along with his
children Billie Jean Shinn Wiley (Anthony), of Nettie, WV, Thomas 'Tommy' Shinn (Shelly), of
Richwood, WV, and Lucas Shinn of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren Rylee Shinn and Parker Wiley, his
sisters Carolyn Schultz (Daniel) of Port Orange,FL, Deanne Ramsey (Tom) of Poca, WV, and
Lura "Bobbi" Hodge of Charleston, WV; 3 nieces and several great nieces and nephews.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He loved sports,
especially playing softball with Greater Daytona Senior Softball.
Bill was cremated and there will be a memorial service April 26 at Springfork Baptist Church in
Charleston, WV (Campbell's Ck.) where he was a long time member singing in the choir and
several groups, as well as individually. He enjoyed singing and blessed many with his
wonderful voice. Rev. Mike Long will officiate
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the American Heart Association.
