William A. Slover passed away on June 17, 2025, in Florida.
Born on July 16, 1958, in Burnt Hills, he was the son of the late Alfred Slover Sr, and the late Laura Larue Slover.
Bill's early life in Burnt Hills was marked by a strong sense of community and a dedication to learning. He attended Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School, where he laid the foundations of a life characterized by hard work and perseverance. After completing his education, he embarked on a career that would see him become a respected Construction Team Leader for the Schenectady Highway Department. For 32 years, he led his team with integrity and a commitment to excellence and retired in 2014.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bill was a man of many passions. His love for muscle cars was more than just a hobby; it was a way of life. He spent countless hours under the hood, building and fixing cars, not just for himself but for anyone in need. His selfless nature was evident in the way he shared his expertise, never hesitating to lend a hand. NASCAR was another of Bill's great loves. He was a devoted fan of the late Dale Earnhardt and Kyle Larson.
An avid outdoorsman, Bill found solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. Whether he was hunting in the woods or fishing in the lakes, he was in his element. These moments of solitude were precious, but not as precious as the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Jane Slover and siblings, Eileen (nee: Slover) Brady, Alfred Slover, Jr., Autumn (nee: Slover) Nelson and Angel Slover.
He is survived by his children, David Slover, Bill August and Heather Slover; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his wife, Mary Slover.
Calling hours will be held from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, July 27th at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville with a memorial service to immediately follow at 4pm.
