William J. Slowey

WILLIAM JAMES SLOWEY, JR. (78) of Philadelphia, passed away surrounded by his family on June 15, 2025. Born to the late William James Slowey, Sr., and Sybil P. Slowey. Beloved husband to Marie (née Dempsey) for 53 years and loving father of Shannon Callahan (John), Colleen Gleason (Dr. William), and Kaitlin Kirby (Michael). Cherished Pop to his 7 grandchildren John Patrick (J.P.), Rose, Connor, William (Will), Patrick, Scarlett, and Noah. Dear Brother to Dennis Slowey (Carole). Bill is also survived by his Goddaughter Erin Dempsey and many cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as extended family and friends.
Bill served honorably in the United States Air Force and dedicated 37 years in additional government service to the United States Mint. He also enjoyed collecting rare coins. Bill loved playing poker and pinochle with family and friends. Bill was very active in supporting his girls in their swimming adventures from kindergarten through college. He rarely missed a swim meet!
Bill loved vacationing with his family at different shore locations, especially Sea Isle City. He also loved the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Flyers and 76ers.
Bill was calm, cool and an entertaining gentleman who enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by all family, friends and those who knew him. May he rest in Peace.
Relative and friends are invited to visitation on Wednesday July 9, 2025 from 10 - 11am at the Maternity B.V.M. Church 9220 Old Bustleton Ave. Phila. PA 19115. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am with interment to follow at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown PA
