William R. Smink

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William R. Smink, age 85, on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Kulpmont, Pennsylvania. William had been a warrior since receiving a cancer diagnosis this past January. His strength and quiet determination remained evident throughout his final days.

Born on July 31, 1940, in Coal Township, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Mildred May (Rote) Smink and Albert J. Smink.

William was the beloved husband of Barbara E. Smink. They were married on December 1, 1962, and had just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary - a testament to their enduring love and commitment.

He will always be remembered as a hardworking man who dedicated 37 years to Kawneer in Bloomsburg before retiring. Above all else, he put his family first. William was a simple man who was most comfortable in a white T-shirt and blue jeans. He loved fishing and hunting, took pride in caring for his home and yard, and found his greatest joy sitting on the floor playing with his great-grandchildren, Rowan and Eliana Skocik.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his two children, Bridget Smink and William Smink, Jr.; his three grandchildren, Joshua Minder, USAF; Casey (Edward) Skocik; and Erin Smink; his siblings, Jack Smink, Norma Carl, and Ronald Smink; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his siblings Donna Walburn, James Smink, Frances Potochney, and Robert Smink.

William's legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and quiet strength will live on in all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in the C J Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, PA. Burial will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Marion Heights. Viewing will be held on Thursday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service in the Kulpmont funeral home.
