Nettie H. Boyer

Harrisburg – Nettie H. (Shoup) Boyer, 99, formerly of Aristes and Harrisburg, passed away on December 19, 2025, at Serenity Gardens Nursing Home, Kulpmont.

Born at home in Locust Twp., Columbia County, on August 16, 1926, she was the daughter of the late David W. and Helen S. (Fetterman) Shoup.

Nettie graduated from Locust Township High School in Numidia, Class of 1944. She was a resident of Aristes for over 40 years before moving to Harrisburg. Nettie was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry. She was a member of the former Lutheran Church in Aristes and, most recently, was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Numidia. She was also a member of the ILGWU.

Nettie is survived by two daughters, Virga L. Brown and her husband, Richard P. Brown Sr. of Boyertown, and Helen Troutman of Aristes; five grandchildren, Mark P. Schroyer, Richard P. Brown Jr., John M. Belansky, Victoria Cote, and Amanda Vogt; and five great-grandchildren, Carl Schroyer, Campbell Brown, Christian Brown, Nathaniel Vogt, and Alexandra Vogt. In addition to her parents, Nettie was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Koch; second husband, Ervin Boyer; a daughter, Carlene L. Pecht; a sister, Marion Hufnagel; and five brothers, Tobias, Sylvester, Allen, Russell, and Lee Shoup.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gordon Smith officiating in the C J Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mt. Carmel, PA, C J Lucas IV, Supervisor. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Numidia. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home.
