William "Bill" Alexander Smith
Windsor, SC—A graveside service for Mr. William "Bill" Alexander Smith, age 72, will be held 11:00 am on Friday January 9, 2026, at Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC, with Randall Becton and Rev. Brancie Stephens officiating. Mr. Smith entered into rest on Friday January 2, 2026, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Mrs. Carolyn Widener Smith and a son to the late Mr. John Dee Smith, II, and the late Mrs. Margaret Hardison Sumner. Mr. Smith was born in Whiteville, NC, but made the Aiken County area his home for most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Smith was a foreman for 39 years for Beck Well Drilling Aiken, retiring in 2024. His hobbies included building race car, dirt track racing, and drag racing. He loved going to the Carolina Dragway. He participated in the Carolina Dragway and in 2001, raced in the bracket finals in Darlington, SC. He was loved by his friends and family and will be deeply missed. Additional survivors include: one son, Chris (Alex Salcedo) Smith, Windsor, SC; one daughter, Tammy (Chris) Jackson, Windsor, SC; one brother, John D. Smith, Windsor, SC; two sisters, Debbie Collins, Aiken, SC, and Rosemary Arthur, Graniteville, SC; and two grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Burroughs and Austin Riley Jackson. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by one daughter, Miss. Tracy Michelle Smith. A visitation with the family will take place from 6-8 pm on Thursday January 8, 2026, at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PKWY (118 BYPASS) AIKEN, SC 29801 803-68-7175. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org or the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Road, Aiken, SC, 29801 www.letlovelive.org.
