William Buford Sparks of Chuckey, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on August 15, 2025.

Buford was born in Jewell Ridge, Virginia on November 21, 1942, to Mr. and Mrs. Harrington and Ocie Sparks. He was married to the love of his life, Patricia Ralphine Elswick Sparks for 64 years. Buford was blessed with 3 children, Billy, David, and Beth.

Buford worked hard his entire life as a coal miner and as a contractor. Upon retirement, he was able to finish out his last days farming which is what he loved the most. Buford never knew a stranger. He would go out of his way to help whoever he could. Buford's mission in life was to share the Gospel of Grace with everyone he came in contact with. His love for the Lord Jesus Christ was something he was never afraid to share.

Buford lived a full life around the ones he loved. He is survived by his wife; Patricia Ralphine Elswick Sparks, children; William B. Sparks, Jr. and Stephanie Sparks, David Harrington Sparks and Barbara Sparks, Elisabeth Ann Sparks Zirkle and Gary Zirkle, grandchildren; Stephanie Sparks Wiseman and Walter Wiseman, Denice Sparks, Billy Sparks, Jessica Sparks, Cody Sparks, Christen Sparks Timler and Trey Timler, Kole Zirkle, Kruz Zirkle, Kase Zirkle, Michael Hershey, Nathan Hershey and Jordan Hershey, Daniel Hershey, and Abigail Hershey. Great grandchildren; Michael Wiseman, Abigail Wiseman, Shylo Wiseman, Eli Wiseman, Lylian Wiseman, Theodore Wiseman, Owen Wiseman, Benjamin Wiseman, Olivia Chesshir, Allison Miller, Deegan Sparks, Franklin Jr., Stella, Oakley Timler, Summer Timler and Lucas Hershey.

Buford is also survived by his siblings and in-laws; Harold and Betsy Sparks, Joe and Judy Sparks, Edith June Sparks, Margie Wysong, Martha and Jim Timberlake, Shelva Sparks; and their families.

Buford is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Leon, Hassel, Leonard, Bernard, J.C., and Ralph.
