Uncle Bill, Aunt Dorothy, Teri, Mike, Jim, and of course Sue, Im terribly sorry for your loss. Although our paths didn't cross much as adults, I always had great respect and admiration for Bill. And I know as cousins, we shared a mutual love for the great outdoors and nature. Rest in peace Bill.

So sorry to hear that my classmate has passed away. Although I hadn't seen Bill since we graduated in 1974 I have nothing but fond memories of Bill, especially from playing baseball with him and against him when we were kids.

We lost a real mensch...a person of integrity and honor....when we lost Bill Spier. The world needs more people llike him now more than ever. Fortunately as a teacher, friend and mentor to the younger generation he has trained and prepared a cadre of young adults to carry on his legacy; to make this community and planet a better place for all God's creatures. Bill was an inspiration to all that crossed his path.

Bill was one of a kind. As a young counselor at New Prairie High School I learned that I could find consistently good coffee in the chemical storage area behind Bill's classroom. Scientists to the core, Bill, Mike Powers and Jim Holifield measured the freshly ground beans with a laboratory scale and added water from a researched mark on a beaker every morning. The sardonic repartee among colleagues was as much of an eye opener as the joe, and Bill was chief instigator. As a friend, I never wondered what Bill's opinion might be. He stated his feelings with deep conviction and colorful language. It was great. Bill has left a lasting impression on all of his students and anyone who ever knew him. He'll be missed.

To the family of William C. (Bill) Spier. May the love of family and friends comfort you. Blessed are they that mourned: for they shall be comforted.

Bill, you are forever in our hearts and thoughts. Your humor, intellect, cooking and gardening skills were amazing. It was a special treat to come to your house for dinner and see your amazingly beautiful yard. We had many laughs sitting in your backyard. We watched all the different kinds of birds you attracted with flowers and feeders. You had flowers in your garden that were spectacular and unusual.

Rest in peace our friend. Your pain is now gone. You fought a long and hard battle. But we will see you again some day.

My sincerest condolences go out to Sue and the entire Spier/Peczkowski family. As I right this 'Stairway To Heaven' is playing in the background. Bill was a unique man of his own convictions who endured many years of pain but now will be in the heavens to help protect us all. Bill was brilliant and championed nature and this earth that we all inhabit. Bill is finally at peace with himself; body, mind, and soul. I was proud to be considered one of Bill's friends, as he was truly a hero of mine in every sense of the word. The last time I was fortunate to see Bill we shared happy moments/laughs of our childhood that I will never forget. Every time I hear birds singing, butterflies flying, trees blowing in the wind, and the sun shining brightly upon us, I will think of Bill and his enduring hope and legacy. Rest easy, my friend, be free and God-Speed as you will truly be missed. Peace to one and all.
