William Sprigg Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 25, 2025.
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of William L. Sprigg, 83, of Debary, Florida, who passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025, at home surrounded by family just as he had expressly wished. Formerly from Jamestown, New York, he was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 8, 1942, the son of Claude Livingston Sprigg and Carrie Raineir.
He attended Jamestown High School, graduating in 1961, where he excelled at running track and held several state high school records. He enrolled in the US Army in 1962 and served until 1968. He then was employed by MRC/SKF as a machinist for the aerospace and military contracting company for 34 years, until retiring in 1997 and moving to Florida to be closer to his two sons, William and Michael. William had a passion for golf, more of an obsession, even though he was mediocre at best. He was also an incredible musician even though he downplayed his remarkable talent where most of his friends and family knew him as "Billy Lee & The Mark III", in which he played in the band he formed in 1965, singing lead vocals and playing lead guitar until stepping away in 1987. His most proud moments were spending time with his three grandchildren and carrying the proud title as their "Nanu". He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lynda (married April 9, 1965); his two sons, William "Billy" (Tina) Sprigg and Michael (Denise) Sprigg; his grandchildren, Sera of Boynton Beach, Florida, Prestyn and Bryanna of Oviedo, Florida; and his sister, Sally (Bob) Buffone of Jamestown, New York.
"A limb has fallen from the family tree, that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the songs, and the good life I lived while I was healthy and strong."
At the request of the family, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of William L. Sprigg.
