William "Bill" George Stewart, Sr., 78, of Perrysburg, passed away on August 24, 2025, at Waterford Assisted Living. He was born on May 27, 1947, to the late George and Thelma (Wise) in Toledo, Ohio. He married his wife, Paula (Connin) Stewart, in 1996, and she preceded him in death in 2018.
Bill is survived by his son, William (Lisa) Stewart, Jr.; and step-son, Seth (Kelsey) Hojnacki.
Bill attended Bowling Green High School, where his mother was a teacher, and graduated with the class of 1965. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, serving on both the USS Mars and USS Sacramento.
Bill worked for the Sun Chemical Corporation for over 35 years. He was a proud member of the Maumee United Methodist Church. Bill was an avid reader, especially Christian media, history, and military history books. In his free time, he enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and was a member of the VFW Post #6409 in Rossford, Ohio.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 10:00AM, until the time of a funeral service at 12:00PM, at the Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett Street, Maumee, Ohio, 43537, with Pastor Joanie Schilling officiating. Private burial will be held at Wood County Memory Gardens at a later date with full military rites. Donations in Bill's memory may be shared with the Small Beginning Christian Preschool at Maumee UMC or the Wounded Warrior Project. Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home, Bowling Green, has been graciously entrusted with Bill's care. Online memories and condolences may be shared with Bill's family and friends at hannemanfuneralhomes.com.
