William Harold Stoffregen, 93, of Sheboygan Falls, entered Eternal Life on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Bill was born on November 15, 1930, to Harold and Eleanor (Ramer) Stoffregen. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1949.
In his youth, he enjoyed racing pigeons and playing sports.
On May 21, 1952, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Daane in Sheboygan Falls.
Bill proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was selected to go to school for Radioactive Chemical Warfare. He ended his service as a disabled veteran. He worked at the Sheboygan Press for 38 years, retiring as press room manager.
Bill was a lifetime member of the First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls and served as elder, deacon, chair of the deacons, and on the Missionary Committee.
Bill enjoyed raising and showing Arabian horses for many years. He enjoyed the simple things, a good meal, chocolate, baking holiday treats, working in his large gardens, and fishing with Gert. After retirement, Bill and Gert enjoyed going on many road trips together. Bill looked forward to the annual deer hunt with the boys. He loved family and holiday gatherings and spending time with the grandchildren and attending their sporting and musical events.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Sue Ann (Ed) Roth of West Allis; three sons, Steven (Lynette), David (Jackie), and Todd (Tami) Stoffregen, all of Sheboygan Falls; 11 grandchildren, Michelle (Tim) Neu, Andrea (Scott) Kraayenbrink, Mark (Emilie) Roth, and Elizabeth Roth, Stephanie and Sarah (fiancé Dustin) Stoffregen, Stacy, Shannon, and Shauna Stoffregen, Danielle and Lindsey Stoffregen; 5 great grandchildren, Scarlette, Micah, Finley, Oliver, Lily; brother, Calvin Stoffregen of Sheboygan Falls. William is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; parents; parents-in-law, James and Johanna Daane; brother, Harley (Shirley) Stoffregen; siblings-in-law, Howard (Avis) Daane, Bernard (Jackie) Daane, Marvin (Ethel) Weavers; and special nephew, Douglas Daane.
A funeral service to celebrate William's life will take place at the First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00am with the Rev. Brad Veenendaal officiating. Burial will take place at the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather at the church on Saturday from 9:00am until the time of the service.
Bill’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Embrace Care, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, and special friend, John Perronne in his final days. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Rev. Brad Veenendaal for his many faithful visits with Bill over the years.
A memorial fund is being established in his memory for the First Reformed Church and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
