William Jennings Taylor, Jr., 77, of Buckingham passed peacefully on October 9, 2025. He was the son of the late W. J. "Buck" Taylor, Sr. and Ethel Mae Shumaker Taylor. Junior was a retired Superintendent for Kyanite Mining Corporation. He was a long time member of Maysville Baptist Church. He was proud of his service as a Sgt. in the United States Air Force and served from 1969 until his honorable discharge in 1973. He was member of the Glenmore Fire Department having served as Captain. Junior loved hunting, fishing, attending Dixie Youth League ballgames and supporting the Buckingham High School football team.
He is survived by his sister, Linda T. Banton and her husband, Clyde; Godson Brandon Shumaker and his wife, Maddie; God brother, Terry Taylor and Carrie Ann; God daughter Kaitlin Woodson and her husband, Chad; nephews, Darrell Banton and wife, Teresa, Jerry Banton and wife, Crystal and Kerry Banton and "grandchildren", William "The Big Guy", Sutton May, Ava, Tyler, Brandt and William Wayne; special friends, Gary Farrish, Dabney Palmore, Andy Palmore, and Don Carter and many other family and friends.
A very special thanks to Carrie Ann and Terry and the Amedisys Hospice team for the care given Junior in his final days.
Funeral service with military honors will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 5 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home. Prior to the funeral, the family will receive friends beginning at 4 p.m.
Interment will be held in the Buckingham Community Cemetery on Monday, October 13, 2025 at 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Glenmore Unit of the Buckingham County Volunteer Fire Department or Amedisys Hospice.
