William (Bill) Thornton, age 79 passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children at home on June 16, 2025, after a battle with kidney failure. He was born November 25, 1945, in Gadsden, Alabama to William Dozier Thornton and Mary Gartrelle Sharpton.
Bill grew up in Arlington Texas and worked from a young age at his family's business Mobile Scout Travel Trailers. He married his high school sweetheart Patricia Stewart and began his family. Bill designed and built trailers until the business was sold, then moved to Emhouse where he farmed, ranched and dairy farmed most of his adult life. As he grew older, being a jack of all trades, he worked in many different fields but was a master carpenter at heart. He could make or fix anything. His favorite hobby was to mow he mowed everything he could find. He enjoyed making things out of wood for his family and friends and eating out with his buddy Father Isidore. He could always be bribed or tempted with his favorite coconut cake or DQ Blizzard! He was well loved and will be greatly missed.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, great granddaughter Paislee and best friend Father Isidore Rozycki. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia, daughter Tamera and SIL Scott Montgomery, daughter Audra and SIL Stephen Mayne, daughter Teresa Crawford, son Billy Don Thornton, and daughter Brittany and SIL Zack Melton, grandchildren Jeff (Sarah) and Kyle Montgomery, Sheena (Joseph) Ruiz, Jackie Watson, Bryce Crawford (John Moore), Dalton Crawford, Jacob Thornton (Nick Coleman), Tara Thornton, Samatha Melton, Roxanne Melton and Henry Melton. His great grands are Kyrin, Kannon,
Emery, Kailee, Elli, Cody, Evan, Rowan & Gwen. He is also survived by two brothers Jimmy and Elaine Thornton, Tommy and Betty Thornton, Sister Ann and John Daniel and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Celebration of his life will be 10:00am Saturday, June 28th at Pattison Cemetery on SW County Road 1140, Emhouse Texas with Scott Montgomery officiating.
