William Joe "Bill" Timmons, a beloved man known for his kind heart, gentle soul, and sense of humor, passed away on Thursday April 3, 2025, at the age of 80, at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on January 6, 1945, in Fredonia, Kansas.
Bill was a graduate of Fredonia High School, Class of 1963, followed by furthering his education at Wichita Business College in Wichita, Kansas. His career as the Lafarge Cement Plant Controller was marked by dedication and professionalism. He also served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1969. During his time in Fredonia, Bill served on the Fredonia Golf Club Board of Directors, USD #484 School Board, Fredonia Rotary Club and the Fredonia Regional Healthcare Foundation Board.
On June 12, 1971, in Independence Kansas, Bill was united in marriage to Wanda Pritchett and she preceded him in death April 22, 2023.
He is survived by his children: Rebecca Terry of Shawnee, Kansas, Jennifer Henderson of Lenexa, Kansas, and Matthew Timmons of Olathe, Kansas. In addition to his children are grandchildren, Samantha Thomas, Jack Terry, Hayden, Hayleigh, and Hayes Henderson, as well as Cole, Nora, Quinn, and Ava Timmons, and great- grandchild Avery Thomas.
Bill had a zest for life, marked by his passions for golf—both playing and watching— he also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs win. He held dear the simple pleasures that life offered, with fond memories listening to Elvis, or spent grilling the perfect steak, enjoying catfish and Italian food, and sharing tender moments on the deck with his beloved wife, Wanda, and their adored pomeranian, Sunshine. His style exemplified his belief that "you can never be overdressed."
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Timmons, his parents Paul and Ruth Timmons, and his brothers James and Derald Timmons.
A Celebration of Life Service honoring William Joe "Bill" Timmons will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Wickham Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service located at 510 N. 7th Street, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to Fredonia Pound Pals and can be mailed or left at the funeral home.
