Reggie Lew Holcomb, who was born on July 11, 1939, in Olean, New York, passed away on Monday July 7, 2025, in Independence, Kansas.

Reggie's early years were grounded in education, culminating in his graduation from Port Allegany Union High School in Pennsylvania in 1957. He continued his pursuit of knowledge by attending Northern Montana College from 1963 to 1965, followed by Northeastern State University from 1977 to 1981.

A proud veteran, Reggie retired from the United States Air Force in 1977 after 20 years of dedicated service to his country. His military career instilled a sense of discipline and responsibility, attributes that he carried into all aspects of his life.

Reggie's passion for learning led him to teach in the Neodesha and Fredonia school districts, teaching in the special education department.

Reggie possessed a gentle spirit and had a profound love for animals, especially his cherished cats, Bandi and Stripe, and his beloved pomeranian Weskin. They brought him joy and companionship, embodying the kindness and warmth he showed towards all living beings.

Reggie was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Harmon and Marlee Edna (Abbott) Holcomb, and his stepmother who raised him, Jean Rice Holcomb. Reggie is survived by lifelong friends Gordon, Shirley and Paque Shafer and Kaylie Griekspoor.

Cremation has taken place; and services will be held at a later date.

Reggie Lew Holcomb will be remembered not only for his contributions during his military service and academic pursuits but also for his compassion and love for animals.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Fredonia Pound Pals.
