William "Willie" Torres, age 72, of Schererville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Willie was a devoted husband, beloved father, and grandfather. A cherished friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew him.

Born on February 10, 1953, Willie dedicated his life to serving others with humility, integrity, and joy. Known for his vibrant personality and gift for storytelling, he had a way of lighting up every room he entered. Always genuine and matter of fact, he remained true to himself in every circumstance. A proud United Staes Army veteran, Willie served his country with honor for 30 years, including tours in Iraq. He was also a passionate history buff, often sharing insights and stories that inspired those around him.

Willie is survived by his devoted wife, Anna; his daughter, Melissa (Ray) Cuadra; and his son, Anthony (Kelly) Torres. He was a proud grandfather to Madelyn, Isabella, AJ, Sophia, Vera, Stella, and Dexter. He is also survived by his brothers, Luis (Mary) Torres and Gilbert (Barbara) Torres, and his sister, Yolanda Torres. Willie will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and extended family members, who loved him dearly. His legacy of love, service, and strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, August 22, 2025, 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. with Prayer Services 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. with a final viewing on Saturday August 23, 2025, 9:00 a.m.-9:30 a.m. at Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Military Honor burial immediately following services at Ridgelawn Cemetery 4401 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.
