William David Traylor, 71, of Knoxville, TN peacefully passed away at home on March 12th, 2024 after a long battle with COPD, cancer and other health complications. He served in the United States Navy in the early 1970's working in crash and rescue. He retired from UT Knoxville with 21 years of service. After trusting in the Lord in 1992, he became a member of Victory Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by father, Ret. OMC William Charles and brother, Kelly. He is survived by mother, Pansy Jane, wife of 36 years, Gail, daughter, Ashley and son in law, Justin, daughter, Stephanie, brother, Chuck, beloved grandson, Aiden, and several cousins, nieces and nephews and other family and friends. David enjoyed fishing, UT football, spending time with family, and listening to classic rock music. Although David gained his heavenly wings, he will forever live in our hearts as a beloved son, husband, father, and papaw. The family will receive family and friends at Roses Funeral & Cremation-Broadway from 5-7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 with the funeral to follow. Family and friends will gather at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at 12:15 pm Thursday, March 21, 2024 for a 12:30 pm graveside service with Full Military Honors conducted by the Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard.
