Linda Neubert Obituary

Linda JANE Neubert - Age 78, passed away peacefully August 31, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lara Ann, parents Clun and Mary Elizabeth Longmire, maternal aunt Maxine Hamilton, and paternal uncle and aunts Claude Longmire, Eula Snodderly and Irene Ingram.

Jane is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dennis. Even though they found each other at the age of 14 she made him the luckiest man in the world when she said yes. Jane is also survived by her two sons, Alex (Alicia), and Lucas (Rebekah) sister Ann Herron (Bill), grandchildren Spencer Neubert, Kaleigh Neubert, Kaiden Neubert, Katy Davenport (Stephen), great-grandchildren Crimsyn and Maesyn Davenport, and several nieces and nephews

Jane attended several semesters at the University of Tennessee and then attended Knoxville Business College where she honed her typing and shorthand skills to 120 words per minute each. In the meantime, Dennis enlisted in the US Army in 1966 and after basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, Jane and he were married on August 26th, 1966. Through a series of lucky breaks Dennis was assigned to Fort Knox, Kentucky where Jane was able to join him and remain together until he was discharged. Jane quickly got a job with the U S Army Armor School writing (rather copying) lesson plans for armored vehicle maintenance.

After returning home, she worked briefly at the University of Tennessee legal clinic. Soon she applied to TVA and was hired to start in the secretarial pool. After shorthand recording and transcribing a couple of grievance hearings, she was recognized for her unique talent and hired as secretary for the head of Engineering Design. After several years at TVA and the death of her 3-year-old daughter Lara to cancer, she became pregnant with their son Alex. She decided it was more important to be a stay-at-home mom and care for her children herself, a decision that was never looked back on. After Alex and later Lucas started attending school, she worked as a teachers aid at Corryton Elementary and later as school secretary for 20 some years. This allowed her to work and still be home with her children.

Jane had several priorities in life. She was church organist at Rutherford Memorial United Church for 41 years, church council secretary for many years, worked every hospitality pantry distribution, and was always there when a job was to be done. She had the most beautiful smile that would brighten up any bad day Someone recently said, "She is the purist person I have ever known". And she was.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Rutherford Memorial Methodist Church Family Life Center. The service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Steve Doyal and Rev. David Fugatt officiating.

Family and friends will gather at 10:45 AM on Thursday at Washington Presbyterian Church Cemetery for an 11:00 AM Graveside Service and interment where Jane will be laid to rest beside her daughter, Lara.

Pall bearers: Spencer Neubert, Kaiden Neubert, Chris Neubert, Davey McMurry, Scott Stephens, and Dillon Rymer.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to: Corryton Hospitality Pantry, PO Box 96, Corryton, TN 37721.
