Barbara "Cheryl" Armstrong - age 86, of Knoxville, TN, went to be with her heavenly father on August 24, 2025, peacefully surrounded by her family.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel E. Armstrong Sr., and her father and mother, Henry and Bobbie Risner.

Cheryl was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She graduated from Central High School. She was a Christian and member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She and her husband were the owners and operators of the former Burnett Armstrong Demolition Landfield, and Salvage Lumber Company, established in 1942.

Cheryl had a passion and love for all animals and never turned her back on a stray. She was a member and volunteered many years with the Knoxville Zoo. She was a lifelong contributor to several animal welfare groups. Her biggest blessings were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the wonderful times she shared with each of them throughout her life.

She enjoyed working outdoors landscaping her home and working in her flower beds. Other pleasures included going to Cherokee Lake, raising St. Bernards, her Kio Pond, Edisto beach trips, and the hunt while collecting her treasures.

She will be remembered and loved by her seven children, Sammye L. Pilant (Jeff), Kimberly C. Hartsfield (Bill), Sheri M. Parler (Bill), Russell H. Armstrong (Linda), Kristi Fehr (Geoff), Tabatha V. Raines (Brian), Samuel E. Armstrong Jr. (Angela); grandchildren, Brandon Fehr (Jennifer), Dylan Fehr (Kasi), Ryan Fehr, Sydney Armstrong (Fiancé Travis), Seth Armstrong and Evan Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Samuel Fehr and Finnegan Fehr; and sister, Vicky Stevens.

The family extends appreciation to the medical staff who have assisted her through health issues. Gratitude also to all the teams from Smokey Mountain Hospice during her final days.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Bridges Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow with Pastor Chad Roberts officiating. The interment will follow at Asbury Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Bill Hartsfield, Geoff Fehr, Brian Raines, Brandon Fehr, Dylan Fehr, Ryan Fehr, Seth Armstrong, Evan Armstrong.
