William H. Trefry

William Harold Trefry, 72, of Whitman MA, died on Saturday, April 6th surrounded by his close family in his home after a brief illness. Born in Boston to Bridie (Healy) Trefry and Harold Trefry Jr., Bill was raised in Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton Public Schools.
Bill took over the family tire repair business before becoming a mail handler for the US postal service where he worked for over 30 years until his well-deserved retirement. In his early years, Bill was an impressive track and field athlete, as well as a devoted player in the Brockton City Softball League.
Bill enjoyed traveling with his family, attending local concerts and sports events, and having outings with his many life-long friends. He cherished his time spent with his granddaughters, who loved him very much. Bill was a valued member of his community, and volunteered his time each week to deliver Meals on Wheels. A lover of nature, he loved to feed the birds in his backyard and watched them closely from his kitchen window. His recent vacation to Alaska with his wife and friends were one of the highlights of his retirement.
Bill leaves behind his wife, Ann (Naclerio) Trefry, of 43 years along with his children, Joanna Silvia and husband Tyler of Dighton Ma, Sara Soapes and husband Michael of Windermere FL, and Brian Trefry and wife Lindsey of Bridgewater Ma. Bill's three granddaughters, Adalyn Soapes, Everleigh Soapes and Marianna Trefry brought him incredible joy. Bill is also survived by his siblings, Ellen Garfield and the late David Garfield of Brockton Ma, and Harold Trefry Jr. and wife Lynn of Bennington VT. He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins
and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend Bill's visiting hours Thursday April 11th, from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A funeral service will be held Friday April 12th, at 10:00 AM at the funeral chapel, with a burial to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree.
