William Robert Tuccitto, 85, beloved husband of Patricia (Lessor) Tuccitto for sixty-three years, passed away at Chestelm Health & Rehabilitation Center in Moodus on October 2, 2022. A native of Portland, he was born on September 24, 1937, and he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Hubbell) Tuccitto.
Bill was a proud U.S. Navy and Korean War veteran. He enlisted at the young age of 17 and served aboard the U.S.S. Tweedy. He lived in Higganum for five decades of his life, and he was a congregant of St. Peter's Church in Higganum. He worked as a plater at Pratt & Whitney in North Haven for many years prior to his retirement. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. His family was everything to him. He enjoyed traveling and watching the UConn Huskies.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by three daughters, Suzanne (Dennis) Hall of Higganum; Denise (Thomas) Bystrek of Cromwell; and Michelle (Dean) Sullo of Bristol.
Bill is also survived by two sisters, Angelina Santostefano and Trisha Fields, and a brother, John Tuccitto. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Sebastian Tuccitto, and a sister, Lucille Tuccitto.
Bill also leaves behind grandchildren Justin Hall, Megan Hall, Stephen Hennessey Jr., Kaitlyn Tobias, and Kyle Sullo, and great-grandchildren Arabella Hennessey-Ives, Alaura Hennessey-Ives, Amelia Hennessey, Amara Hennessey, Abygael Tobias and Melody Tobias.
Calling hours will be October 12th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Doolittle Funeral Home in Middletown. A funeral mass will be held on Oct. 13 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Higganum. Burial will be at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Connecticut. The family would like to thank the staff at Chestelm for their loving and compassionate care during Bill's stay there.
