William Walton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Hills Funeral Home, Crematorium and Cemetery on Jan. 8, 2025.
William Robert Walton, 86, known affectionately to friends and loved ones as Bill, passed away on December 19, 2024 in Eugene, Oregon. Born on August 1, 1938, in Roseville, California to parents Chester and Elizabeth (Taubenkrau) Walton.
Bill Joined the United States Navy on June 13, 1956. He served as a hospital corpsman, rank HM3, until his honorable discharge on June 12, 1962.
A proud alum of the University of Oregon, Bill graduated on December 19, 1970, with a Bachelor of Science Degree. His passion for history led him to a fulfilling first career as a history teacher and later, he brought his friendly demeanor to Willamette Stationary, where he excelled as a sales associate for many years.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Bill was an avid supporter of the University of Oregon football team, maintaining his role as a dedicated season ticket holder for decades. His love for golf and fishing allowed him moments of joy and relaxation, while his knack for crossword puzzles and his appetite for books spoke to his unceasing curiosity and sharp intellect.
Bill will be remembered and deeply missed by his family: nephews Richard (Amy) Walton of Yuma, AZ, and their son Blaine; Scott (Tauine) Walton of Yoncalla, OR, and their children Jalen, Justin, and Kenzie; his niece Jo Groshong and her daughters Stephanie and Jennie; niece Sue Prince of Yoncalla, OR, and her children Sherry and Troy, and niece Breann Flores and her children Mike, Alia, Mateo, Brizeyda, Ahmed, and Sam.. Each of them carry treasured memories of Uncle Bill's remarkable spirit. Bill was preceded in death by his brothers Frank Walton, Dennis Hungerford, and sister-in-law Gail Hungerford.
