William O. "Bill" Ward, age 75, of West Monroe passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Visitation will be held at Watson Funeral Home in Central Square on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 1:00PM to 3:30PM, with a funeral service beginning at 3:30PM.
A Celebration of Life in Bill's honor will be held in April, with more information available on Facebook this spring. Bill will be laid to rest at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Utica, NY.
Bill was born in Malone, NY to the late Frank and Pearl Ward. He married Marcia Golaszewski-Yero on April 19, 2017. Bill also worked for many years as a welder for JGB enterprises in Liverpool before retirement. He served his country in the United States Navy as a "Seabee" or Construction Battalion until his honorable discharge in 1974. Its said that a Seabee can build 'anything, anywhere', and many times under active battle situations.
Bill was a car enthusiast. He was especially fond of his 49' Pontiac, and it won him many awards. He owned many different antique cars over the years; always making sure to attend the Syracuse Nationals car show in the summer. He belonged to the Williamstown American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans Auxillary..
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife; Marcia, his brother's; John Spicer, Jimmy Spicer, Vern (Sandra) Ward, Lyndon (Patti) Ward, sisters; Carolyn (Paul) Benz and Annie (Rich) Dibble, as well as other siblings, nieces, nephews and many close friends. A special thank you goes out to his best friends of over 40 years; Nick Chubyk and John Snyder.
Besides his parents, Bill is predeceased by a brother; Frank Ward, and a sister, Donna Bonhen.
