William Weber Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home - Tidewater Drive Chapel on Nov. 5, 2025.
William "Bill" Lloyd Weber III, 83 years old, went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 26, 2025. Born in St. Anthony, Idaho, he was the oldest child of William L. Weber Jr., and Ruth Almira Johnson Weber. He was preceded by his parents, wife Musette, daughter Suzanne, and brother Wilford.
Bill's family lived in three Idaho towns, and he was active in high school sports and band. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout and fully participated in the Preston Idaho Presbyterian Church. He was mechanically gifted; a trait he honed over a lifetime.
Bill attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah and enlisted in the US Navy in 1962. During a tour of duty in Monterey, CA, he met and fell in love with Musette Raper. They were married in 1964 and inseparable until her death in 2014.
Bill served in various Navy commands and advanced to the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He was selected for the prestigious Navy Enlisted Scientific Program (NESEP), earning a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at North Carolina State University (NCSU). In 1970, he was commissioned as a Naval Officer and served 20 years with duties on destroyers and amphibious ships. Bill was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and numerous unit awards, retiring in 1982 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
In his post-military career, he worked as an electrical engineer in government contractor positions. Bill worked many years at TDS as an electronic engineer before fully retiring in 2002. Musette and Bill traveled extensively on cruises throughout Europe and the Caribbean and were always planning their next trip. Their backyard swimming pool was a summer gathering place for family and friends.
Bill used his engineering skills at King's Grant Presbyterian Church (KGPC) where he knew every inch of the building and property and kept meticulous records of completed projects and a "to do" list of actions. He was a faithful member of KGPC where he served as an elder and member of the Property Ministry. He generously gave his time and finances to support the NCSU NESEP Program. Bill was a dedicated Virginia Beach Meals on Wheels driver and delivery man, making many friends over the years. A staunch patriot for his country, he loved discussions about our nation's future.
Bill is survived by his son Bill, sister Ann Whitlatch, and nieces Hilary and Morgan Whitlatch. His close friends and "grandchildren of choice" include: Mark Johnstone, Ashley Waltington, Serena Johnstone, Nathan Johnstone, Michael Johnstone, Michelle Johnstone, and Kristi Zeller.
Services will be held at King's Grant Presbyterian Church, 745 Little Neck Road, Virginia Beach on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory maybe made to the Virginia Beach Meals on Wheels or the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia.

I´m sad to be here. Musette and my mom were friends since childhood. I grew up with visits from the family. When I had my own family, the four of us plus mom went to VA Beach for a short vacation and enjoyed a meal with Bill and Musette. They were a "power" couple in my view; full of energy and getting things done! After Musette´s passing, Bill stayed in touch with my mom who suffers from dementia. I wanted to tell Bill that mom calls me Musette daily. I can´t tell him now. Maybe he knows.

Mike Simcich. I reported to Fort Snelling LSD-30 in November `74. My first memory was of meeting everyone in the Wardroom a great bunch of guys. The Fort was in Baltimore, Maryland at Maryland Ship building and Drydock it was a short time before Ron relieved Bill as 1st Lt. Bill´s office was close by to mine in Supply& Disbursing. Bill is with us in our memories. My condolences to his family and friends. Mike Simcich.

As a fellow NESEP officer and engineer, I served with Bill on the USS Fort Snelling and witnessed firsthand his engineering talents. Bill was a great friend always willing to help with a smile. America has lost a great patriot and gentleman. Condolences to Bill's family.

I was stationed with Bill on the USS FORT SNELLING and relieved him as First Lieutenant. He was a great guy. Him and his wife had us to dinner several times. Sorry for his loss. May the family always finds comfort in the wonderful memories of the time they had together.
