William D. "Doug" Whitmer, age 69, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, after a brief illness. Born in Oil City, Pa. on May 3, 1953, he was the son of Helen (Schultz) Whitmer and the late Junior Whitmer.
Doug was a production manager at Boeing Company, in Fairfax, Virginia. He was an avid reader and enjoyed sports. He loved dogs and used to enjoy golfing.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Allen "Butch" Whitmer; and six dogs, Sam, Caesar, Annie, Jacob, Hannah, and Sebby.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Bosley) Whitmer; his sister, Wanda Sebring; a niece and nephew on his side of the family, Cindy Wyman, and her children, Skyler, and Cejae Wyman, and Logan Peoples, wife Meagan, and their children, Kellan, and Fallon Peoples; his sister-in-law, Shirley Page, husband Charles; brother-in-law, William J. Bosley; nephew-in-law, Billy Bosley; sister-in-law, Candie Tillman; a nephew on his wife's side of the family, Brian Schnell, wife Melissa, and their children, Madeline K., and Ivan Schnell. Surviving also, is his beloved dog, Coffee.
As per Doug's wishes, services were private. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Interim Healthcare Hospice, 2633 W. 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505, or an animal shelter of your choice. Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory,1595 W. 38th Street is assisting with arrangements.
