Gregory Alan Ames

Gregory Alan Ames, age 76, of Erie, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 11, 2025. Born in Erie on March 3, 1949, he was a son of the late Raymond and Eileen (Niebling) Ames.

Greg graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1967. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968-72 and again from 1975-76. Greg was an avid bowler, bowling in men's and couples' leagues with his wife. They also enjoyed being season pass holders to the Erie Playhouse and traveling. Greg loved camping, picnics, hunting, fishing, and was the president of his golf league.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan L. (Seroka) Minns Ames; two brothers, Rodney and Randy Ames; his children, Brian Ames (Renee), Michelle Oakes (Brian), Michael Ames, Michael Minns (Jessica), Patrick Minns (Irena) and Allen Minns (Tonya); grandchildren, Jake, Maddie, Kamden, Cody, Wyatt, Dana, Elaine, John, Cassie, Tyler, and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Carter, Brixon, and Remi on the way, and a dear family friend Char Kincaid.

Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd. on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service there at 4 p.m., with full military honors to follow.
