William Lewis "Bill" Wieners, 91, of Jefferson City, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Capital Region Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on April 16, 1933, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Fred W. and Georgia Pearl (Stoneberger) Wieners, who preceded him in death. Bill graduated from Licking High School class of 1952.
He met the love of his life, Mary Rachel Wilson, in Flat, Missouri, and married on October 12, 1953. Bill worked as a salesman-driver for Coca Cola Bottling Co. and Hiland Dairy. In 1967 he went to work for Chesebrough-Ponds (Unilever Corp), retiring from the warehouse in 1992. Bill was a faithful member of Solid Rock Church where he was a member of the Kingsman Fellowship, held a position on the church board for 29 plus years and served as Sunday school superintendent for 20 years.
He and Mary enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states, 7 countries in Europe, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean. They also enjoyed Sunday drives and especially seeing the fall foliage. Bill enjoyed bowling, reading his newspaper daily, following the LA Dodgers, and watching television, particularly game shows.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his 4 daughters, Elaine Pherigo (Sam) of Jefferson City, Patty Tuttle of Clarksburg, Beverly Verdot (Harold) of Eldon, Kay Finnell (Mark) of Jefferson City, and daughter-in-law, Sue Burkhart; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren on the way; He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wieners; son, William L. Wieners, Jr.; great-great-granddaughter, Lucy Marie; and son-in-law, Charles Tuttle.
Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, at Solid Rock Family Church with Celebration of Life beginning at 12:00 p.m. with the Reverend Joe Skiles officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that expressions of sympathy be made to Kids on the Rock Children's Ministry, Solid Rock Family Church.
