William Clinton Yates "Bill" age 88 of Loudon passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024. As a young man, he volunteered to join the Army with the well-being of his mom and siblings being at the center of this decision. After returning to the states, he met and married his wife of 59 years, Begatha (Jones) Yates "Bea" and had two sons. He was very gifted in fixing machines of any type and was able to demonstrate his knowledge and skill level in the Maintenance Department at Monterey Mushroom for many years. After working all day, he would eat dinner with his family and head downstairs to start his 'second job' of fixing cars for family and friends. Bill was an honorable man that people respected which resulted in a wealth of family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Bea, brothers, Arlin and Earl Yates and sister, Reba Murr.
He is survived by his devoted sons and daughters-in-law, Neal and Ann Yates and Bruce and Josie Yates; grandchildren, Terry, Wesley and Kayla Yates; great-grandchildren, Waylon, Hayden and Bailee; brother, Jimmy Yates; sisters, Louise Self, Shirley Duggan, Evelyn Moser, Joyce Alexander and Katherine Durman; several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Savannah Baker who has shown such compassion and love to Bill and his sons for nearly 5 years and has become a permanent member of the Yates Family.
Services honoring and remembering Bill Yates will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, September 8th in the McGill Click Chapel with Steve Sykes officiating. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:30 PM Sunday prior to the service at McGill Click Funerals & Cremations, 1366 Hwy 72 N. Loudon. Bill will be laid to rest in a private graveside service in the Loudon County Memorial Gardens next to his loving wife Bea immediately following the service.
