William E. Zedalis

FITCHBURG – William E. Zedalis, 49, of Fitchburg passed away on January 23, 2025 at the North Shore Medical Center, Salem, MA.
William was born and raised in Winthrop, the son of George E. and Estelle M. (Woytaszek) Zedalis. He was a graduate of Winthrop High School, class of 1993 and furthered his education at U Massachusetts Lowell earning his bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. For several years he was employed at Alnylam Pharmaceutical Company in Cambridge as a Research Biochemist. William was not only a brilliant scientist but was also very artistic and avid outdoorsman. A talented craftsman he was a Blacksmith and leather artisan creating leather sheaths for knives. He loved music; he played the guitar and actually made guitars. As the outdoorsman he went mountain biking, fishing, and boating.
A devoted father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, William is survived by his two children; Ilias O. Zedalis and Olivia E. Zedalis, both of Leominster, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George E. and Estelle M Zedalis, of Tuftonboro, NH, a brother, Michael G. Zedalis, and his partner, Alicia Vieira, of Mason, NH, two sisters, Lorraine "Lori" Care, of Haverhill and Karen L. Blumsack and her husband Peter, of Amesbury, aunt Christine Zedalis, of Tuftonboro, NH, nephews; David, Jacob and Benjamin Blumsack and Nathaniel Care, and niece Elisha Care, and cousins; Joseph, Jeffrey and Gregory Zedalis and Nicole Signoretti and Nicholas Woytaszek. He was predeceased by his grandparents; Adolph and Anna May Zedalis, and Henry and Priscilla Woytaszek and uncles Dale and Henry Woytaszek as well as uncle Adolph (Joe) Zedalis.
