WILLIAM ZETTEL Obituary

WILLIAM ZETTEL William Edward Zettel, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at his home in West Branch, MI, at the age of 93. He was born on February 2, 1932, in Royal Oak, MI, to Paul and Margaret (Reetz) Zettel. He lived in West Branch his entire life. Bill, as he was affectionately known to those who loved him, graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1952. He held a strong work ethic that defined his life; after high school, he dedicated thirty years to Saginaw Steering Gear, having initially started his career at Texaco Gas Station. His commitment extended beyond his work as he dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his community. Bill was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, contributing to the vibrancy of the parish with his involvement in the Knights of Columbus #2022. His passion for the outdoors led him to join the Maple Syrup Association, Ogemaw Snowmobile Club, Ogemaw Trail Riders, and served as a board member for the Michigan Trail Riders Association, where he was very involved with the trail maintenance. Bill's true spirit shone through in his many interests and hobbies. He found joy in camping, racing cars, playing euchre, bowling, hunting, and riding horses. His zest for life was infectious, drawing friends and family into the warmth of his laughter and storytelling. Bill exemplified the essence of making memories, inspiring those around him to cherish both the simple and profound moments that life offers. He is survived by his daughter, Julie (Dwight) Parliament, and his son, Edward (Vera) Zettel; his grandchildren, Melissa (Travis) Lyons, Danielle (Bill) Brado, Nathan Zettel, and Rachel (Ray) Smith, and his great-grandchildren, Jason, Brianna, Sophia, Payton, Lukas, McKenzie, Riley, Zayn, and Taw. He also leaves behind two sisters, Janet (Barry) Wilkinson and Joyce Nelander, along with several nieces and nephews who held him dear. He is now reunited with his parents, Paul and Margaret, and his siblings, Rick Zettel, Thomas "Jake" Zettel, and JoAnn Poling, as well as his grandson, Elon Parliament. William Edward Zettel will be profoundly missed but never forgotten, his spirit forever cherished in the hearts of those who had the honor to know and love him. Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Father Al Pillarelli will officiate.
