Bill Zier long time resident of the Broadus area has played his last hand of cards.
William David Zier was born in Hardin on March 27, 1930 to David and Marie (Schuppe) Zier. Bill was raised in the St.Xavier area where he attended school. After his schooling had ended he stayed in the area and worked on different ranches as opportunities presented themselves.
In January of 1951 Bill enlisted in the Navy and served almost four years on many different ships during the Korean War. While in the Navy he learned the trade of a boiler maker, some thing that served him very well for years working road construction as an asphalt plant operator. Upon honorary discharge from the Navy he returned to the Hardin area where he ranched while working road construction. When not working rodeo was his passion with bare back riding being his favorite.
Bill moved to Sonnette in 1971 where he ranched until 1992. After retiring he moved to Broadus where he lived until now.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Betty, Marion, Ruth and brothers Johnny and Phil.
Bill is survived by his sister Pauline and way too many friends and family to list. He was one of the last legendary cowboys that was loved by everyone that truly knew him!
