William "Bill" Zimmerman, beloved husband of 69 years to Lori Zimmerman, passed away on November 15, 2025.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on April 28, 1935, he was the son of the late Wiliam W. Zimmerman and Agusta Zimmerman Doktor. He was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Woodall and brother Richard Zimmerman.
Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served for eight years at the Grosse Ile Naval Air Station in Michigan.
He built successful sales territories across multiple states with General Electric's Carboloy division before starting his own successful company that supplied carbide tooling and abrasives to many industrial businesses in the Greenville area for more than 30 years.
Bill was a kindhearted, quick witted man who always tried to leave joy and humor with those he met. He enjoyed golf, genealogy, telling fun stories and spending time with family and friends.
Bill's faith was extremely important to him, and he was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He gave countless hours to the church and always enjoyed cooking pancake breakfasts in the church kitchen.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Michael Zimmerman (Sandra); daughters, Lisa Griffith Atwood (Ken) and Beth Kitteringham (Bob); as well as six grandchildren, Stephanie McFadden (Rick), Deanna Garafalo (Phil), Ashley Griffith-Cambell (Brendan), Michael Griffith, Lia Kitteringham, and Ryan Kitteringham. Additionally, he is survived by five adoring great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kristin and Tyler McFadden and Layla and Lydia Garafalo.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church followed by interment at 2:00 p.m. in the M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
He will be missed by all he touched with his kindness and wit.
