Willie Earl Atkinson, 66, a beloved figure in his community, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Born on May 22, 1959, he lived a life filled with diverse experiences and devoted service to others.
Throughout his distinguished career, Willie made significant contributions to the manufacturing industry, with notable tenures at Haworth, Bobby Steele, Sonic, and the Town of Vardaman. His strong work ethic and dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and peers alike.
Willie also proudly served his country for 36 years, achieving the rank of E-08 in the United States Army/National Guard Reserve. His military service showcased his commitment to his nation, paralleling his dedication to his community through various roles, including Martial Arts Instructor, Bounty Hunter, Bail Bondsman, Constable, and many others. Known affectionately as "B," "Son," and "The Running Man," he touched the lives of many with his vibrant personality and unique talents.
In addition to his impressive career, Willie was actively engaged in his church community. He served faithfully as an Usher and Sunday School Teacher, where he inspired and guided many through his faith and teachings.
He is survived by his siblings Dorothy (Curtis) Stegall, Shirley Clark, Joe Lee Atkinson, Suzette Johnson, Olivia (Patrick) Pratt, Isaac Atkinson, Kendall (Mary) Atkinson, and Florinda Atkinson, who will cherish his memory deeply.
Willie was preceded in death by his father Willie B. Atkinson, mother Mary Sue Conwell, wife Theresa Riddick Atkinson, grandparents Arling and Florinda Conwell, and brother-in-law Willie C. Johnson.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Willie's life at the Visitation on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Belle Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, Mississippi. A Celebration of Life will follow on Monday, February 9, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM at the Christian Fellowship Branch of The Vine Church in Houston, Mississippi.
Willie Earl Atkinson’s legacy of service, love, and community will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
