Brenda Carol McDivitt, lovingly known as "Shorty," was born on July 3, 1944, in Bruce, Mississippi. With a heart full of kindness and a spirit of compassion, she enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Brenda departed this world on February 4, 2026, leaving behind cherished memories and enduring legacies.
Brenda was a devoted mother to her three children: Daryl McDivitt (Rebecca), Richard Earl McDivitt, and Laquita Nolan (James Anthon), which she leaves behind. Including her beloved 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She embraced motherhood with unparalleled love, nurturing her children and instilling in them the values of care and kindness that defined her. Her proudest accomplishments included being a loving mother, devoted wife, and wonderful gam gam, a title she held dear as she adored her grandchildren.
Known for her amazing old-fashioned country cooking, Brenda had a particular talent for making chicken and dumplings that was unparalleled. She loved nothing more than to gather her family around the table, sharing not just meals but also stories and laughter, creating a warm and loving atmosphere that will forever linger in their hearts.
Brenda's kindness extended beyond her family; she treated everyone with the same compassion she showed her loved ones. She was a true friend and confidante, always ready with a listening ear or a comforting word.
She now joins her beloved family members who preceded her in death, including her husband, Franklin Roosevelt McDivitt, her parents, William Jackson Pearson Jr. and Sylvia Jaunice Pearson, and her brother, Charles Pearson.
A graveside service to honor Brenda's life will be held on February 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Carmel Cemetery in Spring Garden, Alabama.
Brenda Carol McDivitt will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Dansby Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the McDivitt family.
