Lonnie Dale McDivitt April 16, 1942 – December 6, 2025 Lonnie Dale McDivitt, age 83, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A beloved and well-known man throughout Tipton County, Dale was born and raised in the Mt. Lebanon community, his cherished home. He often joked that he "never left the mountain," a reflection of both his deep roots and his pride in where he came from. Dale worked as a butcher for 30 years before spending 19 years in the auto sales business, where he was known for his people skills and his uncanny ability to strike a good bargain. No matter where he worked or who he met, Dale made a lasting impression, often through his humor. With a quick wit, a wise crack for every occasion, and a love for scaring and pranking people, Dale's sense of humor was unmatched. He brought laughter into every room and found joy in making others smile. At home, he loved being outdoors from cutting grass, picking up limbs, and keeping his yard in perfect shape. Even during a beach trip, he once turned around and came home early to protect his property when a storm was headed toward Tennessee. That level of dedication was simply who he was.
Dale married the love of his life, Kaye, 43 years ago after being introduced through her brother. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, four children, and never a dull moment. Dale was a family man through and through. He cherished being "Pawpaw" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one of his greatest joys in life. He enjoyed singing, believed in doing things "the right way" down to the very last detail, and was known to remind his family if they hadn't washed their hands before sitting at the table. In his quieter moments, he loved watching Gunsmoke, and no episode ever grew old to him. Above all, Dale loved his family deeply. He made sure they knew it, even if he greeted every "I love you" with his unforgettable line, "How many times you gonna tell me you love me?" It was his way of teasing, loving, and leaving behind a memory that will echo in their hearts forever. Dale's life was full, full of humor, full of dedication, full of family, and full of love. His legacy will continue in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the lessons he instilled. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents; Alvis & Geraldine McDivitt, and three sisters; Jo Ann Beasley, Linda Dawson, & Cathy Pegg. He survived by his wife, Kaye McDivitt, four children; Marty (Tab) McDivitt, Michael (Jennie) McDivitt, Tonya (David) Watson, & Sonya (Tony) Walker, grandchildren; Jon Daniel (Jordan) McDivitt, Alli McDivitt, Megan (Harley) Whitley, Hunter McDivitt, Brad (Taylor) Walker, Seth Walker, TA (Phoebe) Watson, & Kayla Watson, great-grandchildren; Bryce, Lainey, & Jaxson Whitley, and Callahan McDivitt.
