Lynette Dansby, born on September 11, 1954, in Meridian, Mississippi, passed away on January 28, 2026, in Piedmont, Alabama surrounded by friends and family. She lived a life dedicated to caring for others, evident in her work and the way she connected with all who crossed her path.
Having been a licensed funeral director and embalmer, Lynette opened her own funeral home in 2012, pouring her heart into a profession that allowed her to help families navigate their grief. Her compassion shone brightly, always putting others first. She had a remarkable talent for bringing joy to those around her, often laughing and crying with "her" families during their most difficult times.
Aside from her career, Lynette was a woman of many interests. She has been involved for many years in civic and professional women's groups, loved to play the piano for relaxation, and reading was another passion. She also had a special bond with her beloved dachshund, Sambo, whom she spoiled endlessly.
Those who knew Lynette will always remember her caring personality and her ability to uplift spirits with her humor and warmth. She has left behind a legacy of kindness that will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She leaves behind her beloved son, Chanin Barker (Mandy), Daughter, Jennifer Dansby, granddaughter, McKenzie Barker, brother, Jimmy Long (Linda), sister, Barbara Rose, sisters-in-law, Debbie Holland, Glenda Merritt, Linda Holland, and Diane Trousdale (Rhet), brothers-in-law, Quinton Bridges, Johnny Dansby (Beth), Larry Dansby (Diane). Including a slew of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Dansby, parents, J.C. and Mary Long, son, Jeff Dansby, brother, Tim Holland, sister, Patricia Bridges, sister-in-law, Mary Lee (Joe), and brother-in-law, Ray Dansby.
Visitation will be held on February 1, 2026, at Dansby Heritage Chapel in Piedmont from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place the following day, February 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM, also at Dansby Heritage Chapel. Officiating the service will be Rev. David Cox from Piedmont Church of God. A service will also be held in Quitman, Mississippi at Antioch Baptist Church at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 3 with burial to follow at Long Memorial Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews: Dale Bridges, Jeff Bridges, Steve Murray, Scott Murray, Lane Burroughs, Mike Rose, and Eric Stephens.

She also received wonderful care from Dr. Mohamadali Eloubeidi, Dr. Mohammad Kamran, Dr. Neveen Bade, Dr. Igor Bidikov, and Dr. Mehmet Akce and UAB Medical Center.
