Matthew Francis Lyons
May 27, 1968 – February 2, 2026
Matthew Francis Lyons, age 57, passed away on February 2, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. Lyons and Dorothy Lyons.
Matthew is survived by his brother, John (Andra) Lyons; his sister, Bridgett Lyons; his niece, Kaitlin Setzer (Ronnie); his nephews, Dr. James Lyons and Nathanael Lyons; and his great-nephews, Vickers and JP. He is also lovingly remembered by numerous cousins and extended family members.
Matthew born in Beeville, Texas and grew up in Wellington, Alabama, and was a graduate of Alexandria High School. He was known for his charismatic personality, family loyalty, and unique gift giving. Matthew had a deep love for reading—particularly anything about history, enjoyed card games, working on the farm with his brother, and could always be counted on to share a memorable story, often leaving those around him laughing.
Matthew will be remembered for his wit, warmth, and the presence he brought into the lives of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Graveside service will be held at Jacksonville City Cemetery on Wednesday, February 4th at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
