Willie Gibbs Obituary

Visit the Weatherly Funeral Home - York website to view the full obituary.
Willie Gibbs Jr. Willie Gibbs Jr. served 25 years in the US Navy, traveling all over the world until his retirement as a Chief Petty Officer - E7 in 2006. During the early years of his service, he found his wife, Donna Gibbs in NAS Bermuda. They united in holy matrimony on September 6, 1986; sharing close to 39 prosperous years of marriage. The power and blessing of this union brought forth three beautiful daughters into this world. Willie truly loved his family; and he loved serving people. A true servant of the people, with selfless love and respect for each person that surrounded him. His additional names that he frequently answered to were Matey, Jr, Daddy, Will, and Elder Gibbs. Although Willie traveled the world, he kept a special place in his heart for Cuba, AL. He dedicated his latter years to the growth, economic development, and spiritual upbuilding of where he called Home. Whether it was sitting in with the sick, shut in, or just stopping by to speak to his neighbors and falling asleep on their couch. He was always looking to serve and help provide in any way that would bless someone's day. Willie accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and savior at a young age, and in 1993 was baptized, in Keflavik, Iceland. Willie started his full time ministry for the lord when he was called according to St. Luke 4:18. From then on he was fully devoted to preaching, teaching, and living the word throughout his life. Elder Gibbs and Sister Gibbs have been under the WatchCare of Tomola Church of God since 2018. A warm hearted businessman, sharp, witty and a classic sense of humor; one thing for sure you were going to leave his presence with a warm heart and a smile on your face. He leaves in love; his Wife Donna Gibbs, three daughters LaShawna Wallace (Jay) , LaKita Gibbs, and LaTasha Gibbs (LaDarius). His three grandchildren Jayla Wallace, Kaemon Williams, and Jayden Wallace. His Siblings, Willie Ann Tucker, Mary Burton, Aleasha Sellers (Richard), Tanisha Gibbs, Andrew Gibbs (Robbie), Richard Gibbs, Raynard Gibbs (Gloria), and Jered Hill.
