Willie Herd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Reliable Funeral Home - St. Louis on Jan. 19, 2026.
Willie Lee Herd, age 68, passed away on January 15, 2026 in Washington, MO.
Willie was known for being a calm, laid-back man who didn't require much to be happy. He was a provider at heart, and in his own way, he showed love by protecting and caring for his family.
He worked for many years as a mail processor before retiring from the post office. In his free time, Willie enjoyed fishing, grilling, relaxing with a cold beer, and watching sports - especially football and baseball. He was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and when it came to football, Willie stayed true to the L.A. Rams - even after they left St. Louis. Willie also enjoyed listening to live music at festivals in the park near his home, soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the simple moments of life.
To his closest friends and family, he had a personality that was hard to overlook - especially when it came to his favorite pastime of cursing and keeping it real in true Willie fashion. He lived life his own way, and those who knew him will never forget his easy-going spirit.
Willie is survived by his daughters, Shantana 'Shanny' Herd-Luckett and Santrella 'Shaki' Herd; his stepson, Santana 'Tajuan' Barnes; his beloved cat, Trigger Herd; and his 10 grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
In addition, he leaves behind his siblings, Laura Herd, Ronald Atkins, Tracey Herd, and Tiffany Jones.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Herd and Flora Lee Atkins; along with his former wife, Denise Herd, whom he considered to be the love of his life.
Willie Lee Herd will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
