Willie Mae Jackson

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our incredible mother, Willie Mae Jackson, who left this world peacefully at the age of 84. She was surrounded by family and love, just as she had surrounded all of us every day of her life.
Mae was the center of our family. She was married to our dad, John M Jackson, for 68 years-nearly seven decades of partnership, laughter, hard work, and unconditional love. Together, they raised eight children (John M Jackson Jr., Kerry Jackson, Dwayne Jackson, John D Jackson, Rosemary Jackson, Pernell Jackson, Letita Jackson and Bernard Jackson ), they built a home full of warmth and laughter with more than 30 grand and great grandchildren, and showed us what it truly means to commit to family.
She had a quiet strength and a presence that overflowed with love. Whether she was comforting a crying child, making a big family dinner (her kitchen was like Mary Poppins' purse-there was always enough to feed anyone and everyone who walked through her doors), making her famous chocolate cakes and do-dads, digging in her garden or simply sitting with you in silence when you needed someone close, she made you feel safe, loved, and seen.
Mae never needed the spotlight. Her joy came from the small things-watching her children grow into adults or her grandchildren playing in the yard, folding laundry with care, or having a cup of tea at the kitchen table while she watched her soaps shows. Her love was in the details, and we felt it in everything she did.
She taught us kindness, patience and how to balance a check book. She taught us how to keep going even when things got hard. She was the person we called when we didn't know what to do-and she always seemed to have the answer.
We are heartbroken to say goodbye, but more than anything, we're grateful. Grateful for the life she lived, the love she gave, and the family she built that will carry her spirit forever.
The service to honor her life will be held on Tuesday, October 14th, 2025, at Dolan Funeral Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and we welcome all who love to join us.
In lieu of flowers, or cash donations, we ask that you make a donation in Mae's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
We love and miss you, Mae, Rest peacefully.
