Mr. Willie Jefferson McDougald

Willie Jefferson McDougald, Jr, son of the late Willie Jefferson McDougald, Sr and Sallie Mae Moody, was born July 8, 1947, in Lumberton, NC. He departed his earthly life on June 5, 2025, in Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC.
Willie attended JH Hayswood High School until his early high school years. Later attending Job Corps in California. He worked many years in the manufacturing industry in various cities in and surrounding Lumberton, where he met and married his beloved wife, Johnnie Mae Fairley.
Willie has always been an advent sports fan, particularly rooting for his favorite football team, the Carolina Panthers. Also, he could be often found watching basketball, cowboy movies or listening to blues or reggae while sitting on his front porch. Most importantly, he will be remembered as a man that loved his family and didn't shy away from expressing it, usually through showing up to help with household tasks, solving problems or the occasional phone call to say, "I just wanted to hear your voice, baby!" He modeled to his family and those around him how important his faith was (the Nation of Islam) and how it positively impacted his life, resulting in his name change to "Raheem" and later adding "Tomae", as a dedication to his wife, Mae.
Brother Tomae was preceded in death by both parents, Willie Jefferson Sr and Sallie Mae. He was also preceded by his eldest brother, George McDougald (Johnnie Mae) of Opelika, AL.
Brother Tomae leaves behind to cherish his memories, his one and only love, Johnnie Mae McDougald of Lumberton, NC. One sister, Linda Altman (Warren) of Lumberton, NC; two brothers: Neil McDougald (Aimee) of Willingboro, NJ and Gary McDougald (Pearl) of Lumberton, NC. Four children: Jeffrey Fairley (Gayle) of Monroe, NC; Felicia Florence (James) of Durham, NC; Jamal McDougald (Kimberly) of Durham, NC and Deanna "Pookie" Pickett of Durham, NC. Six grandchildren: N'dea Pickett of Durham, NC; Jeffrey Fairley, Jr of Monroe, NC; Nya McDougald of Durham, NC; Izayah McDougald of Durham, NC; Bryelle Gaines-Fairley of Miramar, FL and Chayla Fairley of Indian Trail, NC; Sister-in-laws: Tanya Simmons of Fort Meade, MD; and Terry Fairley, Lumberton, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends
