Willie Dunstan Weemes of DeWitt, Michigan passed away on December 17, 2023, at the age of 81, she was born in New York City, NY on January 2, 1942, daughter of Albert and Mary (Parker) Dunstan. Willie was a graduate of Springhill High School in Louisiana, class of 1972 and was a member of Believers Christian Church in Grand Ledge. She also attended a Bible study for seniors at Redeemer United Methodist Church in DeWitt. She retired in 2012 as an apartment manager for U.L. Coleman in Shreveport, Louisiana. Willie had a strong faith and a deep love for her Lord Jesus. She enjoyed reading her Bible, old TV shows, and loved her children dearly. She had a daily blog on Facebook that was followed by many people. Every day was another post about trusting in Jesus and closely following him.
Willie is survived by her loving husband Billy Weemes and children: Steve (Kathi) Weemes, Sara (Don) Shepard, Billie (Stewart) Johnston, Debbie Parker, and Bryan (Pam) Weemes; grandchildren: Jessica (Jonathan) Lacobee, Megan (Yenny) Negatu, Benjamin (Tia) Weemes, Katie Weemes, Josh Weemes, Justin Johnston, Stephanie Shepard and Megan Shepard and her many great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and 5 siblings.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20th, at 3 p.m. at Believers Christian Church, located at 10837 W Grand River Hwy in Grand Ledge with a visitation one hour prior to the service; interment to follow at Dewitt City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in loving memory of Willie to the Believers Food Pantry, 15200 Wright Road, Grand Ledge, MI 48837. The family has entrusted arrangements to the Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel in Grand Ledge. Online condolences may be placed at www.millsfuneral.com.
