Wilma James Borgmann (nee Bowman) entered her eternal rest in Jesus on Monday, January 27, 2025 after complications from the flu at the age of 91. Wilma was born in Hamburg, MO, in St. Charles County to Melvin and Amanda Bowman. In 1940 her family was displaced by the U.S. government for the construction of a TNT plant. They bought a new farm in Harvester in 1943 after living with her grandparents in St. Charles.
She spent her early elementary years in a one room schoolhouse in Hamburg, then Benton and Central Elementary School and finished her high school years at Francis Howell, where she was on the women's basketball team and in the Glee club.
Wilma was a loving farm wife who always had a kind word and a smile. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Lawrence Borgmann whom she met through a mutual friend and married May 27th 1953. She moved with him to Texas and Idaho while he served in the U.S. Air Force, and returned to her family's farm in Harvester. She was a nurturing Mom to Delores (Bob) Desemone and Shirley Borgmann, who carry on her legacy. She found great joy in her grandchildren- Ryan (Jami) Desemone, Jamilyn (Ben) Clausing, Jedidiah Desemone, Nathaniel Desemone and Joel Desemone- each of whom she cherished deeply. Wilma's family blossomed with the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Lilian, Gideon, Alice, Sylas and Lucy Desemone, and Samuel, George, Reuben and William Clausing.
Wilma enjoyed reading, keeping in touch with friends and family and was part of the Birthday Club at her church for decades. She cherished time with her loved ones, and never forgot a face or a name.
Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, her parents, Melvin and Amanda Bowmann, and sister Eileen Bowman. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Wilma's life at Zion Lutheran Church, Harvester, MO, where visitation will take place on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery after the service and there will be a luncheon at the church following the interment. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to Zion Lutheran Church.
